Borno: Youth parliament, ALGON to draft media action plan for implementation – Blueprint Newspapers Limited
A collaborative initiative between the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP) Borno State caucus and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) is underway to develop a comprehensive Media Action Plan for Borno State, covering the 2027–2031 period. The aim is to translate practical experiences, evidence, and proposed solutions from diverse stakeholders into a concrete program that guides media development and information literacy statewide.
In Maiduguri, a media stakeholders’ technical alignment meeting was held to map out practical steps for strengthening media literacy, curbing misinformation, and promoting constructive public discourse. The forthcoming framework centers on several core pillars designed to build a resilient media ecosystem that serves youths, communities, and governance structures.

The plan is designed to bring together representatives from government, the media industry, civil society, academia, and concerned citizens. This collaborative approach aims to gather diverse perspectives on policy design, professional reporting standards, community needs, research, accountability, and effective communication.
Support for the initiative was expressed by the Borno State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), which welcomed the effort and pledged cooperation to ensure the successful development and implementation of the proposed action plan. ALGON representatives underscored their commitment to backing the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to empower young people, improve access to credible information, and promote sustainable community development across the state.
