Assets Worth ₹5.15 Crore Of Alprazolam Accused Seized
In a landmark enforcement action in Telangana, authorities have confiscated properties valued at about ₹5.15 crore linked to a narcotics case involving the manufacture and distribution of alprazolam. The seizure followed orders issued by authorities in Mumbai and Chennai under Section 68F(2) of the NDPS Act.
A dedicated investigative team traced an interstate network involved in producing and distributing the controlled drug. Five individuals facing NDPS-related charges were arrested and sent to judicial custody as the probe expanded.
The initial operation yielded 2.5 kilograms of alprazolam, estimated at ₹25 lakh in street value, along with a car, eight mobile phones, and about ₹2.5 lakh in cash. Investigators pressed for more information to map the supply chain and identify key nodes of the operation.
A focused team, comprising about 15 police personnel, then traveled to Maharashtra to pursue leads. They identified a manufacturing unit in the Satara industrial belt that was registered under a fertilizer production license but was secretly used to produce alprazolam. During searches, authorities recovered roughly 30 kilograms of the drug, valued at around ₹3 crore, along with ₹12 lakh in cash and a Ford vehicle. The factory has since been sealed as part of the investigation.
Subsequent inquiries extended to sub-registrar and tahsildar offices in Pune, Satara, and Ahmednagar to gather details about movable and immovable properties associated with the accused and their families.
Officials indicated that the properties tied to the case are valued at approximately ₹5.15 crore according to government records, with the market value possibly higher. Mobile data corresponding to around 20 individuals linked to the case was examined to piece together the network, and the information has been shared with relevant authorities for further investigation.
Authorities emphasized that the crackdown would continue to identify and seize assets allegedly acquired through narcotics trafficking, aiming to dismantle the financial foundations of such networks and prevent further distribution.
