Barcelona to Skip Major Signings in 2026 as Laporta Trusts La Masia

Ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, FC Barcelona’s leadership has signaled a preference for stability over a flurry of transfers. The plan is to strengthen the squad by drawing more players from La Masia, the club’s famed academy, rather than chasing big-money signings.

The president indicated there is no obligation to overhaul the squad simply for the sake of it. The goal is to preserve the current core, refine it through gradual development, and ensure performances rise through continuity and cohesion.

Any new arrivals would only come at the clear request of the coaching staff, possibly bringing in one or two players to bolster specific roles. The emphasis is on selective reinforcement rather than a broad recruitment drive.

There is renewed confidence in the academy’s ability to feed the first team. The leadership believes La Masia can provide players who meet the club’s standards and contribute immediately at the highest level, reinforcing a sustainable model built on homegrown talent alongside elite additions when needed.

The overarching principle mirrors a period in the club’s history when a core of homegrown players was complemented by high-caliber signings, producing a highly competitive squad. The current strategy aims to recapture that synergy by prioritizing internal development while remaining open to measured external help if it benefits the team.
