The long-running Xevious saga is set to make a landmark return, as the genuine arcade edition of Xevious 3D/G lands on modern consoles on September 24, 2026. Released under Hamster’s current-gen banner as Arcade Archives 2 Xevious 3D/G, this marks the first time the original arcade program has been made playable at home.
Platforms and the Arcade Archives 2 label
This release targets PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo’s Switch 2. It will not be available on the original Switch or PlayStation 4. The split mirrors Hamster’s branding strategy: Arcade Archives 2 is the company’s line dedicated to present-generation platforms, while the earlier Arcade Archives line supported older systems.
Why this release matters
Xevious 3D/G first lit up arcades in 1996 and stands as a major pivot point for Namco’s storied shoot-’em-up series. Not only is it widely recognized as the eighth mainline entry, it’s also the chapter that shifted the franchise from sprite-based visuals to fully polygonal graphics.
