AAEON Integrates MediaTek Genio SoCs in uCOM-M700 and uCOM-M510 SMARC Modules
On August 16, 2025, in Taipei City, Taiwan, industrial IoT solutions provider AAEON marked a significant development with the launch of their latest SMARC modules, the uCOM-M700 and uCOM-M510. These modules harness the power of the MediaTek Genio IoT platform, bringing a new level of performance and efficiency to the market.
The uCOM-M700 and uCOM-M510 represent AAEON’s inaugural foray into utilizing MediaTek technology. The uCOM-M700 boasts an octa-core MediaTek Genio 700 SoC, while the uCOM-M510 features a hexa-core MediaTek Genio 510 SoC. Both systems utilize the ARM big.LITTLE architecture, which is renowned for its adept power management and performance balance. These modules also feature an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and Video Processing Unit (VPU), alongside the on-chip Arm® Mali™-G57 MC2 GPU. With these capabilities, the modules achieve impressive energy efficiency while delivering up to 4 TOPs of AI performance, ideal for advanced human-machine interfaces and innovative smart retail solutions.
Besides performance, the modules are built with diverse display capabilities, including HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, and eDP 1.2 interfaces. They also offer an additional MIPI DSI connector upon request. The variety in display options allows for flexibility across applications, supporting two concurrent displays, one in 4K resolution and the other in 2K.
These modules come with robust operating system support, as they are compatible with Ubuntu LTS and Yocto, the latter equipped with Chromium browser support to enhance production-optimized HMI applications. For those who require it, Android support is available upon request.
The uCOM-M700 and uCOM-M510 can operate effectively in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. This temperature resilience, combined with industrial-grade CPUs and passive cooling mechanisms, makes them excellent candidates for industrial environments requiring board-to-board rugged carrier integration.
Reflecting a focus on industrial applications, these modules feature a comprehensive set of input/output options. This includes Gigabit Ethernet with time-sensitive networking capabilities, two sets of UART serial connectors, each with 4 and 2-wire options, and a 12-bit GPIO. Additional interfaces such as SPI, QSPI, I2C, and I2S ensure a versatile connectivity landscape, tailored for industrial usage.
