Weapons Seized, Darts Creek

Authorities from the Gladstone-based Tactical Crime Squad, with support from regional units, executed a search warrant at a residence in Darts Creek earlier this month. The operation led to the seizure of several weapons and ammunition.

During the July 14 search, officers located seven unregistered firearms, a crossbow, and a quantity of ammunition at the property.

Police officials emphasised a continued commitment to removing illegal firearms from the community. A spokesperson stated that the service will persist in identifying, seizing and disrupting illegal weapon possession and will pursue those involved through the courts. The public was urged to help by reporting suspicious activity, as community cooperation plays a crucial role in stopping dangerous items from circulating.

In relation to the case, a 30-year-old man from Darts Creek was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count of possessing explosives (ammunition) without proper authority. A 23-year-old woman from Darts Creek was charged with one count of unlawful possession of weapons. Both are scheduled to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on 3 August.

The authorities reiterate that illegally possessing weapons poses a significant risk to the safety of the community and law enforcement, and such offences are treated as serious criminal matters.
