Manchester tragedy: elderly man dies after fall from water-tank platform, second fatality in days

Manchester, Jamaica — An 83-year-old man has died after an accident at a private residence on Woodlawn Road in George’s Valley, Manchester. The incident occurred on Sunday while he was helping a relative with property maintenance and accessed a raised area that houses two water tanks.

Authorities believe he may have slipped from the elevated platform and struck rocks below, sustaining a grave head injury. He was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after being transported for treatment.

Officials noted that this marks the parish’s second fatality attributed to an unfortunate mishap in a short span. Earlier in the week, a 60-year-old man in Balvenie Heights, Mandeville, was killed after steel lengths being delivered by a truck struck him.
