Fall River Police Nab Repeat Drug Offender and Armed Juvenile Again
The Fall River Police made significant strides in tackling crime this week with the apprehension of two suspects on charges of drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The events unfolded on Thursday, capturing the attention of local law enforcement agencies and residents alike.
The first arrest targeted Angel Alvarado, aged 45, who has a history of similar offenses. Acting on a search warrant, detectives zeroed in on a residence located on Bank Street, where they confiscated approximately 28.35 grams of fentanyl and 18.58 grams of crack cocaine. Alvarado now faces charges for trafficking in heroin, morphine, opium, and cocaine.
This incident marks the second arrest in just half a year for Alvarado on drug-related charges. His previous run-in with the law occurred on December 11, 2024, when he was charged with multiple counts related to trafficking and the distribution of illegal substances, alongside tampering with evidence. During that arrest, authorities seized 25.94 grams of crack and 6.7 grams of fentanyl from his possession.
In a separate operation, the police conducted another search, this time focusing on a teenager residing on Quarry Street. Upon searching the juvenile’s bedroom, officers discovered a 3D-printed 9mm firearm, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun,” loaded with six live rounds. The lack of serial numbers on these types of weapons makes them particularly difficult to trace.
The 15-year-old, now in custody, faces charges for possessing a large capacity firearm, owning a firearm without the necessary license, and possessing ammunition without a firearms identification card. This marks the juvenile’s second arrest on gun-related charges within just four months. Previously, on January 10, the teenager was found with a Springfield XDS 9mm and was subsequently released under GPS monitoring.
These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug trafficking and illegal firearms within the community. The police continue to emphasize the importance of such efforts to ensure public safety and reduce crime in Fall River.
