Google’s NotebookLM’s Video Overviews are now available in 80 languages

Google is expanding NotebookLM’s reach with a major multilingual push. The company announced that Video Overviews are now available in 80 languages worldwide, alongside a significant upgrade to Audio Overviews that brings non-English experiences in line with the depth and quality previously seen in English.

Two big upgrades for NotebookLM

“Today we’re announcing two key updates to NotebookLM: Video Overviews are now available in 80 languages globally, and we’re significantly upgrading all Audio Overviews to be more comprehensive and in-depth. Non-English Audio Overviews will now mirror the rich, detailed experience of the English version, providing a more thorough discussion of your sources in all of the supported languages,” Google said.

The enhancements aim to make NotebookLM more useful for learners and creators everywhere, regardless of language. With these changes, users should see fuller, more context-aware summaries and presentations generated from their own materials.

What are Overviews in NotebookLM?

Overviews are AI-generated summaries that distill the key ideas from the documents, transcripts, and notes you’ve added to a notebook. They help you quickly grasp core concepts, identify themes, and surface important details—so you can spend less time combing through sources and more time learning, researching, and building.

Video Overviews: now multilingual

Introduced last month, Video Overviews turn a notebook’s content into a concise, easy-to-follow video presentation. With today’s expansion, those videos can now be generated in 80 languages, making the feature far more accessible for global users who prefer or require non-English output.

Google positions Video Overviews as a versatile tool for many scenarios, including:

  • Students summarizing lectures or study materials ahead of exams
  • Researchers extracting key findings from dense academic presentations
  • DIY learners breaking down complex, step-by-step tutorials

In each case, the goal is the same: rapidly transform a pile of notes and sources into an engaging, understandable video in your preferred language.

Audio Overviews get a depth boost

In parallel, Audio Overviews have been upgraded to deliver the same level of thoroughness across all supported languages. Non-English users should now experience richer, more nuanced discussions of their sources—aligning closely with the English feature set.

Availability

Both updates are rolling out globally over the coming week. As the changes land, NotebookLM users around the world will be able to generate Video Overviews in 80 languages and access more comprehensive Audio Overviews across the board.

With this move, Google continues its push to make AI-powered study and research tools more inclusive, helping learners, professionals, and curious minds work more effectively—no matter which language they use.
