Proton Experimental updated with fixes for The Crew Motorfest, Farlight 84 and more games
On August 14th, Valve launched another update to Proton Experimental, enhancing the gaming experience for Windows titles on Linux, SteamOS, and Steam Deck. This update is a continuation of the improvements made on August 8th, featuring significant upgrades to ensure smoother gameplay.
The highlights of the August 14th update include improvements that have made The Crew Motorfest fully playable. Notably, this game utilizes BattlEye anti-cheat technology. Ubisoft had previously activated this for Linux platforms, but there were certain elements missing in Proton that prevented the game from functioning optimally. These issues have been addressed, making it delightful to see such titles fully operational now!
In another stroke of good news, Farlight 84 has also received attention in this update. This ensures that even more multiplayer games continue to function seamlessly on Linux. With such developments, the landscape for gaming on Linux keeps growing more robust, allowing players a broader selection of engaging titles without the usual platform constraints.
The consistent efforts to enhance Proton Experimental highlight the commitment to ensuring a diverse array of games are accessible to enthusiasts on various platforms. These updates not only expand the gaming possibilities on Linux but also demonstrate the potential for future advancements in gaming software compatibility.
