Workable has unveiled Workable Agent, an agentic AI recruiting teammate built directly into its applicant tracking system (ATS). Unlike standalone tools or bolt-on features, the Agent operates natively inside Workable’s platform to run full-cycle top-of-funnel hiring—helping teams define roles, source and engage candidates, and deliver qualified, interview-ready shortlists in days.

With this launch, every Workable Recruiting account gets a free upgrade: a structured, AI-guided intake at the start of any new job. Hiring teams can capture must-haves, nice-to-haves, trade-offs, and disqualifiers before drafting a job description. That upfront clarity translates into more accurate screening from day one, because evaluations follow criteria the team defined—not whatever’s inferred from a posting.
How it works
Workable Agent starts with a conversation, then turns the intake into a structured brief and matching rules. From there, it:
- Continuously searches Workable’s database of 400+ million profiles.
- Conducts personalized outreach that, according to Workable data, doubles response rates compared to bulk templates.
- Verifies interest, enriches missing candidate details, and screens every profile against the defined requirements.
- Maintains a live, continuously updated shortlist of qualified and engaged candidates.
The goal: a faster path to a vetted shortlist without the manual lift of drafting, sourcing, screening, and follow-ups.
Beyond task automation
Workable emphasizes that this is not a set of disconnected automations. The Agent autonomously runs complete top-of-funnel workflows inside the ATS: it drafts, sources, screens, messages, scores, and advances top matches. When human judgment is required, it hands recruiters full context immediately to keep momentum high.
Controls, transparency, and compliance
Designed with regulatory readiness in mind, Workable says the Agent is built to be fully compliant with the EU AI Act and similar emerging frameworks. The company points to active participation in EU AI research initiatives, including AIXPERT and AutoFair.
