Commercial truck fire on I-49 causes traffic delays near Lena

A major vehicle fire shut down the southbound lanes of I-49 near Lena this afternoon, triggering road closures and detours as responders moved in to control the blaze. The incident occurred around mile marker 110.

First responders from local law enforcement and fire services were alerted at 12:47 p.m. near Lena in Natchitoches Parish. The truck, carrying a load of paper, was engulfed in flames as crews worked to bring the fire under control. Reinforcements from another parish were requested to assist with the effort.
