After Naagin 7, Ekta Kapoor Trolled Over AI Lord Krishna Scene In Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2; Netizens Say, “Sabka Rozgar Cheen Rahi Hai”

Television producer Ekta Kapoor is once again facing social media backlash over the use of artificial intelligence in one of her shows. After drawing criticism for allegedly using AI in Naagin 7, Kapoor is now being trolled for a scene in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 featuring what viewers believe is an AI-generated version of Lord Krishna.

The controversy erupted after a recent episode showed Tulsi, played by Smriti Irani, speaking to Lord Krishna while she is in jail. In the scene, Krishna encourages her not to give up hope and to continue helping others despite her circumstances. However, instead of praising the emotional setup, many viewers focused on the visual quality and delivery of the character, calling the sequence awkward and “cringe.”

Clips from the episode quickly spread across X, where users mocked both the execution and the decision to use AI for such an important mythological figure. One post that gained traction read, “Someone please cancel Ekta Kapoor’s AI subscription b/c she ain’t stopping.”

Several reactions also framed the issue as one of lost work opportunities for performers. One user wrote, “Jo bolte hain na AI naukari khayega. Ek actor jo Shree Krishna ki jagah cast hota, wahan AI use kar liya. Kisi artist ke ₹3K per day gaya. Ekta sabka rozgaar chheen rahi hai.” The sentiment reflects a growing concern in the entertainment industry that AI tools could replace roles traditionally performed by actors, voice artists, and other creatives.

Others poked fun at the dialogue itself. One viewer joked, “Krishna Bhagwan Hin-English bol rhe hai,” while another commented that the clip looked as if the production was “using a free AI tool.” A separate post zeroed in on the script, saying, “Why jail and not karagaar? Dialogue bhi AI se likhwa leti.”

Some users also found Lord Krishna’s use of modern English words jarring in the context of the scene. One reaction read, “Jail, Krishna speaking English words is weird, I think Tulsi has gone to the third stage of hallucinations.” That line summed up a broader criticism online: viewers were not just reacting to the technology, but also to how poorly integrated it felt within the emotional and cultural tone of the show.

From a tech and media perspective, the backlash highlights a familiar problem with AI adoption in mainstream entertainment. Audiences may accept digital tools when they enhance storytelling, but they tend to reject them when the output appears artificial, distracts from the narrative, or seems to replace human talent for cost-saving reasons. In this case, critics appear to believe the AI element did all three.

This is also not the first time Kapoor has been called out over AI-driven visuals. Her earlier brush with criticism around Naagin 7 had already made viewers more sensitive to similar choices. As a result, the Kyunki scene became less of an isolated moment and more of a pattern in the eyes of social media users.

The timing is notable because Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 is currently in a milestone phase. The franchise has completed 26 years since the original show first premiered, and the new installment has recently introduced a dramatic 10-year leap. The narrative shift is intended to open a fresh chapter in Tulsi’s life while bringing in new conflicts and changing family equations.

Marking the anniversary, Ekta Kapoor shared a note celebrating the legacy of the series. She wrote, “26 years ago a show came that changed my life. Thank you Sameer sir, Thank you star plus, thank you Balaji team, thank you Tanu, thank you Smriti, thank you to all the actors, and of-course above all thank you to the writers and the team who constantly work at making it what it is. Jai Mata Di.”

But even as the show celebrates its legacy, the AI debate threatens to overshadow the nostalgia. For many viewers, the issue is no longer just whether AI should be used in TV production, but whether it is being used thoughtfully. In the case of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, the answer from the internet appears to be a firm no.
