Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 brings SAS night raids to Mumbai; campaign early access begins
Mumbai will become a Call of Duty battleground in Modern Warfare 4, with the campaign featuring nighttime operations led by the British Special Air Service. The Indian metropolis is one of several international locations included in the military shooter’s globe-spanning story.
An opening cinematic from the Mumbai chapter provides an initial look at the city’s role in the conflict. Although the full circumstances surrounding the operation remain undisclosed, the sequence points toward a stealth-focused mission unfolding after dark.
Players who digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased the game gained campaign early access on October 16. The complete release is scheduled for October 23.
Mumbai joins a worldwide battlefield
The campaign moves between Mumbai, Korea, New York and Paris, using each destination to deliver a different style of combat. Mumbai’s SAS raids are expected to emphasize infiltration and coordinated urban operations, while the Korean missions feature trench warfare and large military engagements.
New York will place players in close-quarters encounters, while Paris serves as the setting for high-speed pursuits. Together, the locations support a mixture of stealth, vehicle sequences, street-level firefights and larger confrontations.
The campaign contains 16 missions, with the central narrative revolving around North Korea launching a full-scale invasion of South Korea.
A new soldier enters the conflict
Part of the story is experienced through Private Park Hyun Jun, a young South Korean soldier entering live combat for the first time. Park fights alongside his squad and combined American and South Korean Marine forces as they attempt to halt the invasion and recover occupied territory.
His journey takes him through damaged cities, fortified trenches and dangerous counteroffensives. While survival remains the immediate priority, the campaign gradually explores the larger powers responsible for escalating the war.
Captain Price returns for an off-the-books mission
A parallel storyline follows John Price after the dissolution of Task Force 141. No longer operating within the established command structure, the former British soldier pursues a powerful weapon linked to a broader network of covert activity.
Price’s investigation forces him into an uneasy partnership with Valeria Garza. Their mission eventually connects with the forces driving the invasion of Korea, bringing the campaign’s separate characters and locations into the same international crisis.
Mads Mikkelsen appears as The Archer, a leading antagonist whose decisions influence the course of the conflict. The campaign is positioned as the concluding chapter of the rebooted Modern Warfare storyline.
Early access, platforms and campaign rewards
Campaign early access runs from October 16 until the worldwide launch on October 23. It is available through eligible digital editions on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.
Completing the story will unlock rewards that can be carried into Multiplayer and DMZ after launch. These include operator skins, calling cards, emblems, loading screens and experience tokens.
Modern Warfare 4 will initially be sold as a standalone release rather than launching through Xbox Game Pass. Its arrival on the subscription service is not anticipated until the 2027 holiday period.
