Lantronix Redefines Integrated Edge Intelligence With AI-Powered Surveillance Ecosystem and Real-Time Video Analytics

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Lantronix (NASDAQ: LTRX) unveiled an integrated edge surveillance ecosystem that pairs its new SmartEdge.ai 5G-ready Edge AI Gateway with the SmartSwitch.ai PoE+ aggregation switch. The combined platform is designed to bring real-time video analytics, AI-driven insights, and scalable power and data aggregation to enterprise and industrial environments—shifting critical workloads from cloud to edge for faster, more resilient operations.

A Unified 5G Edge AI Platform for Real-Time Surveillance

Lantronix’s approach marries on-site AI inference with high-bandwidth, fiber-based aggregation. The SmartEdge.ai Gateway handles video processing and edge inference at the point of data generation, while the SmartSwitch.ai consolidates inputs from multiple PoE switches and IP devices to deliver high-speed uplinks for centralized analytics, storage, or management. Tapping Qualcomm’s QCS6490 processor, the gateway targets distributed deployments where latency, reliability, and data locality are non-negotiable—think multi-camera facilities, campuses, and critical infrastructure.

Key Capabilities

  • Smart video insights: Real-time object detection, tracking, and vehicle monitoring to elevate situational awareness.
  • Security monitoring: Intrusion detection through integrated camera feeds, enabling proactive response.
  • Building automation: Coordination of access control, lighting, shading, temperature, and occupancy for smarter facilities.
  • Predictive maintenance: Automated network analysis, event detection, and reporting to minimize downtime.
  • High-performance aggregation: 10 1G/10G open SFP+ ports and two 1G/10G RJ45 ports, plus a 10G/25G SFP28 uplink for bandwidth headroom.
  • Autonomous network management: Remote deployment, orchestration, and monitoring to trim operating costs at scale.

“AI-powered intelligence at the edge is reshaping how organizations secure, automate, and understand their environments,” said Saleel Awsare, CEO of Lantronix. “With SmartEdge.ai and SmartSwitch.ai, we’re delivering a unified platform that brings advanced video analytics and intelligent connectivity directly to the site of data generation. Powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ high-performance processing, Lantronix is enabling customers to deploy scalable, real-time AI applications that unlock new levels of safety, efficiency, and automation.”

Why It Matters

The global video surveillance market is expected to nearly double from about $73.8 billion in 2024 to roughly $147.7 billion by 2030, fueled by IP cameras, cloud VMS, and analytics—an implied ~12% CAGR from 2025–2030. As organizations move analytics and security workloads from cloud to edge to cut latency, control costs, and reduce bandwidth dependencies, demand is rising for tightly integrated platforms that combine AI inference, robust connectivity, and autonomous device management. Lantronix’s new duo is built to meet that shift head-on.

Strategic Upside for Lantronix

  • Access to high-growth segments: AI surveillance and smart buildings that require real-time analytics across multi-camera, multi-site environments.
  • Recurring revenue opportunities: Device orchestration, remote management, and long-lifecycle industrial deployments.
  • Ecosystem alignment: Tighter collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies around high-performance, low-power edge compute.
  • Margin expansion: Higher-value compute, analytics, and intelligent networking products.

Taken together, the hardware-software stack aims to deliver scalability and industrial-grade reliability—which could help Lantronix capture share as enterprises fast-track edge-based vision AI, security automation, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
