After Naagin 7, Ekta Kapoor Trolled Over AI Lord Krishna Scene In Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2; Netizens Say, “Sabka Rozgar Cheen Rahi Hai”

Producer Ekta Kapoor is once again facing criticism over the use of artificial intelligence in television content. After being trolled earlier for allegedly using AI in Naagin 7, Kapoor is now under fire for a scene in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 featuring what viewers believe is an AI-generated version of Lord Krishna.

The controversy began after a recent episode showed Tulsi, played by Smriti Irani, speaking to Lord Krishna while she is in jail. In the scene, Krishna appears to comfort her and urges her not to give up hope, encouraging her to keep helping others despite her circumstances. However, instead of emotional impact, the sequence triggered ridicule online, with many users calling it awkward, “cringe,” and unnecessary.

A clip from the episode quickly circulated on social media, where users mocked the visual quality and questioned why AI was used at all. One viewer wrote, “Someone please cancel Ekta Kapoor’s AI subscription b/c she ain’t stopping.”

Others framed the issue as more than just an aesthetic misfire, arguing that AI is replacing real creative labour. One comment that gained traction read, “Jo bolte hain na AI naukari khayega. Ek actor jo Shree Krishna ki jagah cast hota, wahan AI use kar liya. Kisi artist ke ₹3K per day gaya. Ekta sabka rozgaar chheen rahi hai.” The remark reflects a growing anxiety in the entertainment industry: that generative AI tools could gradually cut out actors, artists, and production workers from paid opportunities.

Some responses focused on the odd dialogue and delivery in the scene. One user joked, “Krishna Bhagwan Hin-English bol rhe hai,” while another said the clip looked so low-quality that it felt like “she is not even paying for her AI tool and using it for free.”

Language choices in the scene also became a target of satire. After hearing Lord Krishna use the word “jail,” one user asked why the dialogue did not use “karagaar” instead, adding, “Dialogue bhi AI se likhwa leti.” Another post read, “Jail, Krishna speaking English words is weird, I think Tulsi has gone to the third stage of hallucinations.”

The backlash highlights a broader tension that is increasingly shaping entertainment and tech conversations alike. AI-generated characters and effects may offer speed and cost savings, but audiences are proving quick to reject them when the output feels unconvincing, culturally tone-deaf, or creatively lazy. In mythological or religious depictions, that scrutiny becomes even sharper, as viewers expect a higher level of care, authenticity, and emotional resonance.

For Kapoor, the criticism is particularly notable because it follows similar reactions tied to Naagin 7, suggesting that viewers are starting to closely watch how AI is being deployed in mainstream Indian television. What may have been intended as a stylised creative device has instead reignited concerns about production shortcuts and the erosion of human-led performance.

Meanwhile, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 remains a significant nostalgia-driven project. The franchise recently marked 26 years since the original show premiered, and the new installment has also introduced a dramatic 10-year leap, opening a fresh phase in Tulsi’s story along with new family conflicts and twists.

Marking the milestone, Ekta Kapoor shared a note that read: “26 years ago a show came that changed my life. Thank you Sameer sir, Thank you Star Plus, thank you Balaji team, thank you Tanu, thank you Smriti, thank you to all the actors, and of-course above all thank you to the writers and the team who constantly work at making it what it is. Jai Mata Di.”

But even as the show celebrates its legacy, the AI debate is threatening to overshadow that moment. For many viewers, the issue is no longer just whether AI should be used in TV production, but whether its use is coming at the cost of craft, credibility, and jobs.
