ElevenLabs Launches Multilingual AI Voice Model Amid $11B Valuation Push

ElevenLabs has introduced Eleven Multilingual v1, a next-generation speech synthesis model that adds French, German, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, and Spanish to its AI voice platform. The debut lands shortly after the London-headquartered startup closed a $500 million Series D at an $11 billion valuation—fueling IPO chatter and signaling an aggressive push to own the multilingual voice stack.

What’s new

  • Seven new languages: French, German, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, and Spanish.
  • Emotionally expressive delivery across languages, with context awareness maintained end to end.
  • Code-switching in a single prompt, allowing the model to correctly identify and speak multiple languages while preserving a speaker’s unique voice profile.

How it works—and what carries over

Built on ElevenLabs’ monolingual foundation, Multilingual v1 is trained on multilingual data to sustain tone, cadence, and emotional nuance as text changes languages. A standout capability is its handling of mixed-language prompts without losing the original voice characteristics. The system slots directly into ElevenLabs’ VoiceLab toolkit—including Instant Voice Cloning and Voice Design—so cloned voices can generate content in any supported language while retaining defining traits such as timbre and accent.

Known limitations

There are still rough edges. Numbers, acronyms, and foreign words can sometimes default to English pronunciation when generating speech in another language. ElevenLabs suggests spelling out numbers and acronyms in the target language as a temporary workaround while it refines pronunciation models.

Business momentum

The multilingual upgrade arrives amid rapid commercial growth. ElevenLabs reported more than $330 million in annual recurring revenue for 2025, a striking climb from the company’s early traction, when it crossed one million registered users within months of its January 2023 beta launch. Total funding now stands at $781 million after the February 2026 Series D.

Headcount has reached roughly 400 employees. Co-founders Piotr Dąbkowski, a former Google machine learning engineer, and Mati Staniszewski, previously a strategist at Palantir, have steered the company from a $100 million valuation in June 2023 to $11 billion in under three years—an ascent that places ElevenLabs among the fastest-scaling AI infrastructure startups.

Why it matters

Multilingual, emotionally nuanced synthesis is quickly becoming table stakes for AI voice. With this release, ElevenLabs turns up competitive pressure on rivals by letting creators, game studios, localization providers, and edtech platforms scale voice output across major world languages—without hiring separate voice actors for each market. Consistent performance across languages, coupled with reliable cloning that preserves accents and persona, reduces both production friction and localization costs.

Availability and what’s next

Eleven Multilingual v1 is live across all subscription tiers. Users can select languages via the dropdown menu in the Speech Synthesis panel and immediately apply existing VoiceLab presets or cloned voices to multilingual scripts.

With ARR surpassing $330 million and a fresh $500 million round at an $11 billion valuation, expectations for a public listing will only intensify. For investors tracking AI infrastructure, the launch underscores ElevenLabs’ pace: rapid product expansion, clear commercialization pathways, and mounting user demand for high-fidelity, language-agnostic voice generation.
